Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
This policy explains what personal data Toolsmith Software collects, why, and what your rights are. We keep it deliberately short, because we collect very little.
Who we are
Toolsmith Software is a trading name of a UK sole trader. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@toolsmithsoftware.co.uk. Our correspondence address is available on request.
What we collect
Only what you choose to send us through the contact form on our site:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The details of the enquiry you write
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect anything you don't type in yourself.
The free tools on our site
Our free calculators and tools run entirely in your web browser. Any figures, spreadsheets or files you enter into them stay on your device — they are never uploaded to us or stored anywhere by us.
Cookies and analytics
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner to click through. If we measure how many people visit the site, we use a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool that counts visits without identifying you or following you around the web.
Why we use your data, and our lawful basis
We use the details you send only to read and reply to your enquiry, and to discuss any work you ask us about. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not send marketing.
Who else is involved
To run the site and receive enquiries we use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosts the website and delivers it securely.
- Web3Forms — passes your contact-form message to our inbox.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else.
How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for as long as we reasonably need it to help you or to carry out any work you engage us for, and then we delete it. If your enquiry doesn't lead anywhere, we remove it once it's clearly no longer needed.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Just email us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
